AMD Introduced new computer platform

AMD introduced new computer platform called Spider specially designed for high efficent PCs.This platform support new quad core processors Phenom and up to four video processors in paprallel connection. All components for this platform already available for sale.

For the past three years AMD released new computer platform for desktops. The new platform system build from three main components: AMD Phenom Quad Core, video processors ATI Radeon HD 3800 series and AMD 7-Series chipsets.

First two micro processors for the Spider platform are Phenom X4 9500 (2.2 Ghz) and 9600 (2.3 Ghz) which have 2 Mb cache. These CPUs diesigned for AM2+ sockets and relates to the first Stars chepsets. In the second half of 2008 year AMD palnning to move to the 45 nm technology. Phenom processors built on 65 nm technology.

The second part of the Spider platform is new released ATI Radeon HD 3800 video cards. These video cards built with 55 nm technology. For example in previus model HD 2900 AMD used 80nm technology. New video processors works on Directx 10.1 and supports Crossfire and OverDrive technology. CrossFire technology let you connect up four video cards in parallel connection.

New platform designed for gaming machines and simple working stations. Also AMD integraded new power saving technologies PowerPlay, Cool’n’Quiet 2.0, CoolCore, HyperTransport 3.0 and PCI Express 2.0. This allows to cut size of absorbing energy by two.

All the components for new Spider platform can be bought almost in any store. Phenom X4 9500 and 9600 priced at $251 and $283 dollars.The new Phenom models 9700 and 9900 will be available in first half of 2008 and will have price around $300-$350 dollars. The price for ATI Radeon 3850 256 Mbwill $179 and HD 3870 will cost $219. New motherboards with 790FX and 790X price vary from $99 to $250.
