AMD will release a video card that supports DirectX 11 in October
Company AMD, according to unofficial sources, plans to introduce a new series of video processors Radeon HD 5800 supports DirectX 11 at the end of this month. In the new line will include two chip – Radeon HD 5850 and 5870, deliveries of which begin in October in conjunction with the release of Windows 7.
Thus, AMD, is likely to be ahead of the company nVidia, the long and the only competitor in the market of graphics solutions, which hardly is announcing its first DirectX 11 compatible chip GeForce GT 300 until December (in the sale of graphics cards based on this processor will appear only at the beginning following year).
On chip Radeon HD 5800 is almost no official information. We know that the Radeon HD 5850 is based on core RV870 Pro (codename – Cypress), and a better processor Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) can boast of the increased core and memory speeds.
It is expected that the performance of Radeon HD 5850/5870 will be twice the computational power of current GPUs Radeon HD 4850/4870 and will be 1,5-2 teraflops. Video cards based on Radeon HD 5850/5870 will be equipped with memory GDDR5, connectors DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort. The new chips also support OpenGL 3.1 and proprietary technologies ATI Stream GPGPU, Avivo HD, and ATI Eyefinity, Accelerated Video Transcoding, CrossFireX and PowerPlay.
