MSI releases upgraded version of MSI X48 Platinum motherboard
The new motherboard does not have significant differences from the lower version of this motherboard X38.
The main difference between motherboards is increased productivity and compatibility with memory modules. This features may increase interest of the overclockers to MSI mother boards. The X48 chipset will support 1600 Mhz front side bus speed. Although this speed been reached by the X38 chipset with overclocking ability. Two PCI Express slots are using PCI ICH technology which means that slots will have slow speed x4. MSI specialists could not explane how these slots will wrk with high speed devices if ICH supports only 6 channels. The bridge between the ICH and PCI express clots decrease the speed of the slots to the PCI Express 1.0. This is big disadvantage for MSI motherboards.
The new MSI X48 Platinum is ready for production, but MSi is waiting for the Intel as every one else.
