New FireWire specification S3200
1394 Trade Association announced that they release new specification S3200 which will increase the speed of the FireWire IEEE 1394 by four times.
Today’s FireWire technology allows transferring data with the speed up to 800 Mb/s. New S3200 technology will allow users to transfer data with speeds up to 3.2 Gb/s. The new S3200 specification will be available with no changes to the cables or connectors. This will increase the transaction between two standards.
This FireWire upgrade will create some competition for the up coming USB 3.0. The new FireWire specification will be released in the mid February.
