Panasonic has released a safe lithium-ion batteries for laptops
Panasonic has recently started mass production of high-capacity lithium-ion battery, which will differ enhanced reliability and safety.
The design of the battery has index 18650 and presupposes the existence of the insulating layer of metal oxide, located between the positive and negative electrodes. Panasonic calls it the Heat Resistance Layer, it increases the dimensions of the battery, but at the same time prevents overheating and protects against fire, even in the event of a short circuit.
The positive electrode in the new batteries made from nickel, the density of electricity in a battery of 675 watt-hours per liter. Other benefits of the new design include an increase in the life of the lithium-ion batteries and the increased ability to conserve the charge. It should be noted that the capacity charge a new battery is 3.1 amp-hour, while a conventional batteries used for laptops, this figure does not exceed 2.9 ampere-hour.
It is still unknown when the first consumer electronic device with new safe batteries Panasonic.
