Microsoft has announced the availability of beta versions of the first service pack for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.

Recall that the first service pack for Windows 7 does not contain any fundamental innovations. This update includes fixes that were released during the time that has elapsed since the release of the OS, as well as some other patches, correcting errors and improving the stability of the system.

As for Service Pack 1 for Windows Server 2008 R2, it includes two new virtualization technology – RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory. Technology RemoteFX provides an opportunity to remotely manage the system, while maintaining the contents of any remote PC screen, including full-screen video applications based on Silverlight, 3D-applications. Dynamic Memory Technology allows administrators to Hyper-V allocate the available memory on the physical host, and from there dynamically reallocate it to all the virtual machines that are working on it.
